From Newark to Baghdad: Privatization, Cutbacks &
the Economics of War

Over the past 50 years a small group of economists, politicians and think tanks have been advancing an agenda of "neo-liberal" economic policies--privatization, slashed social spending and free trade--across the globe and in the United States. This workshop will explore how "neo-liberal" policies and economic globalization are incompatible with democracy and dependent on war and violence - both at home and abroad. We will look at ways we can fight these policies locally and work to create a global community of peace, human rights, fair trade and democracy.
