THANK YOU to Everyone who participated in
The People’s Peace Conference 2008
January 19, 2008, at Rutgers Law School, Newark

For those who voted in the People’s Primary, Dennis Kucinich took fully one-third of the vote (for whatever that’s worth now). Behind Kucinich was the Green Party, with 20% of the vote, and a little more than half the Green Party votes named Cynthia McKinney. Then Baraka Obama, John Edwards, Hilary Clinton, and Socialist Party candidate Brian Moore each garnered approximately a little more than 10% of the vote. Ralph Nader received one vote.

Stay tuned for videos from the conference!

In January 2007, the coalition held its first conference, the People’s Peace and Justice Conference, at Rutgers Law School in Newark. Six hundred people attended and agreed on a series of resolutions to work for, including to bring the troops home now, for a cut in funding for the war and redirection of those funds to domestic needs, supporting Gulf Coast residents’ efforts to rebuild and return, and impeachment of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney.

On March 24, 2007, the coalition hosted a rally at Essex County College in Newark, attended by 400, who heard Gold Star Parent James Kelly and his band “The Affect” open the event with Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On?” and then speak movingly to what it is like to lose a child to the war.
